Based on 16,924 reviewsGordhan Thal is widely praised for its authentic Gujarati vegetarian cuisine, offering fresh, flavorful dishes served in generous portions. Reviewers consistently highlight the attentive and friendly staff who provide prompt service, even during busy times. The restaurant’s homely atmosphere and traditional thali experience resonate well with patrons seeking genuine local flavors at reasonable prices. Common feedback acknowledges the long wait times due to high demand and no reservations policy, with suggestions to visit during off-peak hours to minimize waiting. Some diners note a bustling ambiance, which while lively, may be less suitable for quieter meals. Overall, Gordhan Thal is celebrated for quality food, excellent value, and a warm dining environment that attracts both locals and visitors alike.
Visited on a Thursday afternoon, it was rush hour and still found seating place quickly. Hot food was served lightning fast by the staff. They have a good number of staff and each of them was able to respond to our request in a timely manner. Taste of most of the items was very good. The highlight for me was the dahi chat basket. Felt like good quality gujarati food after a long time. The atmosphere gives a traditional rustic feel and is good. There is only one washroom each for gents/ladies which has the washbasin in it. Satisfactorily clean. It is on the edge of being good value meal for the money you spend. Overall, recommended for a quick gujarati meal.
My go to place in Ahmedabad for a hygiene, yummy traditional gujarati thali! The food is always fresh and plentiful. The staff are very friendly and serve you like grandma does at home... very reasonably priced too!
Total VFM! Great service, food and vibe. Just the place is too bustling with everyones having dinner conversations. Just a suggestion - Take everything in very limited quantity for taste and refill as per requirement.
Brought our Delhi family for a Gujarati dining hall experience. The food was fantabulous. They need to increase the number of people served as they always have an insanely long queue but it’s well worth the wait. And they don’t take reservation. Old fashioned. Give your name to the attendant with the clipboard at the door when you reach. (30-45 min is usual wait). Factor it in when planning a meal at GT
You cannot miss this place if you are in the city. Cannot make reservation. If you wanna enjoy and not wait in line go around 11.30 to 1.30pm. 2pm is peak footfall. Weekdays too. There is a waiting area-they call your name and you are taken to the table. We took 20mins for our turn. So not bad. The food and service is the main deal. The food servers keep coming and start putting food in the bowl, explaining the dishes The places is alive. Every table I glanced, everyone was enjoying the food. My heart was full by taking the 1st few bites itself. The service was great. They were encouraging to try everything and wanted the experince to be good for body and soul. I will come back to ahemdabad for the food again. Thank you guys for making us try the best aamras.
Gordhan Thal isn’t just a restaurant for me—it’s an experience I look forward to every single time. I’ve been coming here for the last five years, and not once have I left disappointed. The food, the warmth, and the whole vibe of this place make it feel like home. The thali is a feast in every sense—a never-ending spread of flavors that somehow always tastes just as good as the last time. The dal, the kadhi, the fresh rotis dipped with ghee, and those irresistible amras—every drop is comfort. No matter how much I tell myself to eat less, I always end up stuffing myself because it’s just that good! What I love most is the consistency. So many places start strong but lose their touch over time—Gordhan Thal never has. The service is just as warm as the food, with staff who make sure your plate (and heart) are always full. Some of my best memories are tied to this place—bringing friends and family here, watching their eyes light up as they take their first bite, and then laughing about how we all ate way too much. If you're in Ahmedabad and haven’t been here yet, trust me, you’re missing out. It’s not just a meal—it’s a feeling.
This is 1 restaurant which is getting 5 stars in every category. This is one of the best restaurants if u want to have gujrati food. Many celebrities have been here too for a reason/ it's reputation. You have to book a slot for yourself. If u want to visit at peak hours. Quality and quantity both are good. If u see the picture of thali.. it seems... Big and heavy but trust me it isn't heavy at all after having one thali, I could eat 2 thali more. It was that light. All items are served in a heavy yellow metal ( peetal) Except chach. For adults it's 400 and for kids it's 200 The ambience is amazing. They have a waiting area as well. One funny part is the owner of the restaurant has posted the picture with all the bollywood celebrities... But you can see his favourite among them for sure. If u are coming to Ahmedabad then.. don't miss it.
Brilliant food! But surely Baati isn't something that it contest with Rajasthani one. The meal was prepared very well. I wished if they could add more Gujarati snacks like Fafda etc. And there was a moment one no one noticed me for 10 minutes as I was waiting for the refill. Overall! A must visit place
